Dr Clare Short
Dr Short recently retired from the NHS in order to set up a mental health charity supporting schools, Open MindEd. She has extensive experience working in mental health over the past 30 years and was, until she left the NHS, working as a Consultant Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist in North Bristol CAMHS over the past 11 years.
She has a wide breadth of experience in the assessment and treatment of mental health disorders in children and adolescents. She draws from a range of therapeutic interventions including one-to-one psychotherapy, prescribing (where appropriate) and family-based therapy.
Dr Short is passionate about the well-being of young people and their families. She believes that when we are able to have meaningful conversations between each other we create an opening for something transformative to take place.
Dr Short also has a keen interest in teaching and teaches on the new Bristol University Medical School curriculum in primary care and psychiatry. She brings her experience from her clinical work and associated philosophy into her teaching, with an emphasis on experiential learning, which is greatly valued by students.
